Renot

Renot (Reinaldo Eliomar de Freitas Marques da Silva) was a Brazilian artist born in 1932 who passed away in 2021.

  1. His tapestries, designed on canvas and embroidered with half-stitch wool, position Renot, alongside Genaro de Carvalho, as part of the group of Bahia's most important tapestry makers.

  1. Renot participated in the International Tapestry Exhibition held in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1974. He also exhibited in Brazil, at the Tapestry Triennial of the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo in 1979, and abroad, including Rome, London, and Hamburg. His works are part of the collection of several national and international museums.

  1. Renot's work follows an abstract line and seeks to extract the most beautiful aspects of human nature, from the fauna and vegetation to popular festivals and their houses.

  1. His colorful canvases are almost like embroideries made with brushes. Renot is also known for his paintings.
