(1904–1989) was a prominent French designer and visual artist, best known for being the legendary artistic director and chief designer of the iconic perfume bottles of the Lancôme house for decades.
Before joining Lancôme, Delhomme worked as a design director for the prestigious perfume firm Coty.
In 1935, he joined Armand Petitjean (founder of Lancôme), along with other former collaborators from Coty, to create a new luxury brand that embodied French elegance worldwide. Delhomme was considered one of the co-founders of the house.
In contrast to the minimalist and sober aesthetic of ultra-flat lines that prevailed in the early 1930s, Delhomme promoted a more sculpted vision, rich in details and heavily influenced by Art Déco.
He himself described how they sought to go against the prevailing trend: while others opted for absolute simplicity, he designed pieces with character, using frosted crystals, bold geometric shapes, and stoppers adorned with floral and allegorical motifs.
He was directly responsible for the design of the bottles and cases of the first and most famous historical fragrances of the brand launched in 1935 (such as Bocages, Tropiques, Conquête, Kypre, and Magie), as well as later classics highly sought after by international collectors, such as Trésor, Peut-Être, and Envol.
