Fratelli Toso was founded in 1854 by six brothers: Angelo, Giovanni, Ferdinando, Carlo, Gregorio, and Liberato Toso.

Techniques Applied:

  • Murrina, especially the millefiori (thousand flowers) technique.

  • Iridescent finishes: As seen in Ermanno Toso's "Nerox" series.

  • Sommerso: Although not exclusively their invention, they produced pieces using this technique of submerged glass layers.

  • Bullicante: Glass with controlled bubbles.

  • Fenicio: A technique that creates feather-like patterns.

  • Zanfirico: Glass with white or colored threads in a spiral.

  • Incalmo: Joining separately blown glass sections.

After World War II, they collaborated with several designers:

  • Alberto Moretti, Licio Zuffi, and Vittorio Ferro: contributed sketches to the company after World War II.

  • Ermanno Toso: Nerox, Stellato, Kiku series.

  • Giusto Toso: "Rio" and "Elios" lamps (although he later also worked for Leucos and Barovier & Toso).

  • Rosanna Toso: "Gisa" and "Gheno" vases.
