He was born in 1909 into one of the oldest glassmaking families in Murano. His relationship with the Barovier family began at the young age of 11 years (in 1920).
His father, master Antonio Seguso, was one of the main partners of the renowned factory Vetreria Artistica Fratelli Barovier (a company that years later, after other mergers, would become the famous Barovier & Toso). Archimede formally entered as an apprentice under the strict tutelage of his own father and master Napoleone Barovier.
From Apprentice to Master and Partner (1920 – 1929)
At the age of 17, thanks to his amazing talent and speed, he already held the rank of master glassmaker and became a junior partner within the plant's organization.
In 1930, Antonio, along with his sons Ernesto and a young Archimede of only 20 years, opened a small independent workshop in the Campa Cimitero area, definitively closing his direct working stage for the Barovier firm.
Barovier, Seguso & Ferro (1933)
In 1933 they reunited with their former allies to found a new large company.
Shortly after, the Barovier family left this project and the firm was simply renamed Seguso Vetri d'Arte in 1937, where Archimede would consolidate his fame before founding his own company in 1946.
