The company Derby Silver Co, an American silverware companyfounded byEdward N. Shelton, Watson J. Miller, and Thomas H. Newcombcreated the brand Victor Silver Co. (sometimes found as Victor Silver Plate Co.) in 1873 in Derby, Connecticut.
The firm initially operated in the manufacturing of toiletry items and silverware pieces. It is a brand of the company Derby Silver Co.
The main facilities operated along the Housatonic River, on the historic streets of Canal Street and later on Bridge Street.
In 1898, several independent silverware manufacturers from Connecticut decided to join forces to create a large corporate conglomerate (the International Silver Company), and Derby Silver Co. was one of the original founding companies that were part of that merger.
The Victor Silver Co. brand was used between 1900 and 1915. During the Art Nouveau period.
Several brands from the same conglomerate apparently competed against each other in sales catalogs, even though all were manufactured in the same workshops.
The factory closed in 1933 due to the Great Depression.
