The history of the Lalique firm begins with René Jules Lalique, who was born in 1860, a French jeweler and master glassmaker.


His career can be divided into several key stages:


  1. He studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs and at the Crystal Palace School in London, which influenced his naturalistic approach.


  1. At the age of 16, Lalique began as an apprentice to the Parisian jeweler Louis Aucoc.


  1. In 1885, he established his own workshop in Paris, focusing on the Art Nouveau style.


  1. In 1912, Lalique organized his first exhibition dedicated exclusively to his glass creations.


  1. During the 1920s and 1930s, Lalique focused on the Art Deco style and its techniques such as lost-wax casting and the contrast between clear and satin glass.


  1. He fulfilled significant commissions for the ocean liner Normandie and the Coty company.


  1. Today, Lalique is synonymous with French luxury.
