Designer daum nancy

Daum is the name of a factory established in 1875 in the city of Nancy, France.

  1. The notary Jean Daum became the owner by foreclosing on its previous owners who were heavily indebted to him. The eldest son, Auguste, despite having studied law, took over the management of the factory.

  1. Around 1890, he formed an artistic department under the direction of Antonin. Colors were used in two or three layers, in which the decoration was sculpted using the cameo technique.

  1. At the Universal Exposition in Paris in 1900, 38 pieces were presented, and Daum, like Gallé, obtained the Grand Prix.

  1. Around 1906, Antonin Daum presented pâte de verre pieces made by Almric Walter, expanding the collaboration with Majorelle by supplying him with small plaques to incorporate into the furniture.
